This session explores key information around substance use, with a focus on cannabis and ketamine.


We will look at what these substances are, the current debates around cannabis, and how addiction can develop. We will explore how cannabis affects the brain, including the role of the endocannabinoid system, and the physical and mental health risks linked to ketamine use.


We will also discuss common barriers to recovery and where families can turn for support.



This session aims to:

  • Give you informed and current information on Cannabis and Ketamine.

  • Look at why these two drugs are on the increase with our young people.

  • Identify the harms and explain why drug use is different for teenage brains compared to adult brains.


By the end of the session, you will:

  • Be able to talk confidently with your child about the risks and harms associated with cannabis and ketamine.

  • Better understand how these substances impact the brain and behaviour.

  • Know where to seek help and support if needed.
