Depression is a serious mental health condition that impacts on every aspect of someone's life.


In this session, we’ll explore what depression is and how it can affect children and young people.

We’ll look at the role of the brain’s reward centre and why it is so important for mood, motivation, and wellbeing. We will  also share practical strategies to help boost dopamine and support positive change.

This session aims to:

  • Explain the importance of dopamine.

  • Explain the purpose of the Reward Centre in the brain.


By the end of the session, you will: 

  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of depression.

  • Understand how the brain’s reward system impacts mood.

  • Have a range of practical strategies to help reduce depressive symptoms and support your child’s wellbeing.
